This species is widely distributed in Namibia (where it was named for the Herero people) into the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The plants tend to be solitary rosettes with vividly striped light gray-green leaves with few spots. The plants produce multicolored flowers (orange-red) in mid-winter. These plants are seedlings in 3-inch pots.
