From the Chihuahuan Desert in Mexico, this beautiful species, known by its gringo name of Bishops Cap, has no spines and a miter form. Variety columnare is columnar and thin compared to the typical species. The flowers are relatively large and yellow. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
