This species is from Baja California, Mexico, where it generally occurs east of the peninsular divide in the dry areas that receive some summer rainfall. Its stems are thin and green, and the spines are long and yellow. The flowers are yellow. We’ve grown this plant outside in Tucson where it has been undamaged at 15F. These plants are rooted cuttings in 4-inch pots.
