This short tree is widely distributed in Central America and widely naturalized in the tropics worldwide. It is known for its deeply divided green leaves with red-purple highlights and its bright red flowers. This plant needs a lot of water and can be difficult to grow in Tucson. These plants are seedlings in 8-inch pots.
