This species, known as the crane flower or bird of paradise, is from the southern provinces of South Africa. Its mature leaves are medium green and heart-shaped. The flowers superficially resemble birds and are predominantly yellow-orange with blue highlights. These plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
