From Ethiopia and Kenya, this distinctive member of the Vitaceae is rarely offered in cultivation. These plants are propagated from material originally collected southwest of Mwatate, Kenya (WY 1206). The thin stems have eight facets, four of which are deep green grooves and four of which are raised gray-green convex surfaces. A climber, this species is best suited as an understory plant. The flowers are inconspicuous. These plants are rooted cuttings in 4-inch pots.
