As the species epithet implies, this species is commonly found in Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia; our plants are from material collected at Lake Baringo, Kenya (WY 1146). The leaves tend to be light green with little variegation, a light brown margin, and a reddish glow when exposed to higher light levels. The plants offset prolifically, forming a large clump in time. These plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
