From East Africa, this upright species with spiky leaves was once called S. intermedia. It is slow growing, offsetting from an underground rhizome to produce rosettes with several leaves. The leaves have some weak banding on them but mostly they are dark olive green in color. These plants are rooted cuttings in 10-inch pots.
