Sansevieria pedicellata la Croix

Protologue: Kew Bulletin 59(4): 620 (2005).
Etymology: The epithet refers to the prominent pedicels (flower stalks).
Subgenus: Sansevieria
Group: none
Distribution: Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Brief Description: This large species, which is acaulescent and rhizomatous, has up to 15 smooth leaves (more typically 4 - 6) that are erect, linear, flat, and smooth to the touch. The leaves are 60-140 cm long and 6-13 cm wide, and they are uniformly green with a red margin and a white outer edge. The leaves narrow to a soft tip with the margin in rolled. The inflorescence is 70-130 cm tall and simple with 4 - 6 flowers per cluster.
Similar Species: Sansevieria pedicellata is more or less distinct within the genus because of its large size and its upright plain green leaves. Sansevieria butleri has some similarities but occurs in south-central Ethiopia.
