Brief Description: |
This acaulescent and stoloniferous species has 8 - 10 densely spiralled and smooth leaves that are slightly spreading and cylindrical with shallow channel on the upper surface to ½ the leaf length. The cylindrical leaves are 6-22 cm long by 1 cm in diameter and have a soft tip. The leaves are dark green with conspicuous bands of lighter green, and the edge of the channel is reddish. The inflorescence is unbranched and is about 17 cm tall with 1 - 3 flowers per cluster. |
Similar Species: |
Sansevieria gracillima is very similar in characteristics to Sansevieria gracilis and either could be a form of that species or reduced to its subspecies. Sansevieria gracillima has shorter leaves and shorter flowers, which are a different color from those of S. gracilis. Otherwise, it is not easily confused with any other member of the genus except perhaps S. caespitosa from Namibia, which has wider leaves that are not cylindrical. |
