Brief Description: |
This broad-leaf perennial is acaulescent and rhizomatous, and it has 4 - 8 (often 6) rosulate, erect, leathery, and oblanceolate leaves. The smooth leaves tend to be 90 cm long by about 15 cm wide and are a bright medium green color, sometimes with a glaucous bloom. The base is only slightly narrowed, and the tip is soft and obtuse; the leaf margins are fibrous and chestnut-brown in color. The inflorescence is 60-90 cm tall and simple. |
Similar Species: |
Sansevieria frequens likely was one of the species originally considered to be Sansevieria forskaoliana in Kenya, but its medium green leaves with little mottling or banding and smooth surfaces distinguish it from that typically gray-green species. Likewise, the leaf coloration of Sansevieria frequens is much lighter than another similar species, Sansevieria conspicua. |
