Subgenus: Sansevieria
Group: Sansevieria cylindrica
Etymology: This epithet refers to missing or, more likely, inconspicuous bracts on the inflorescence.
Distribution: Southwestern India.
Brief Description: This is a medium-sized acaulescent shrub with ascending, flexible, light yellow-green leaves that are 45-90 cm long and 1.7-2 cm wide. The leaves have a central channel, are rough, and bear numerous longitudinal light green lines. The inflorescence is about 60 cm tall and simple with 2 - 5 flowers per cluster.
Similar Species: This species could be confused with Sansevieria roxburghiana, a highly variable species from India, but that species has flattened, not cylindrical, leaves. Sansevieria burmanica from Myanmar and S. zeylanica from Sri Lanka have similar leaf patterning but both are shorter with wider leaves, not cylindrical ones.
