Sansevieria dhofarica T.A. McCoy & Lavranos

Subgenus: Paniculatus
Group: Sansevieria ehrenbergii
Etymology: The epithet refers to the Dhofar Region of Oman.
Distribution: Oman with an extension into eastern Yemen.
Brief Description: This acaulescent and rhizomatous species forms large clumps. Individual plants have 4 - 5 distichous, ascending, laterally compressed leaves that are deeply channelled near the base. The leaves are 60 cm long and 61 cm in diameter near the base The leaves are slightly rough to rough with 4 - 7 deep grooves on the flattened sides. Their color is light to dark green with a thin reddish-brown margin and a sharp tip. The inflorescence is about 50-60 cm tall and paniculate with 4 - 7 flowers per cluster.
Similar Species: At one time, this species fell under the rubric of Sansevieria ehrenbergii. It is a much larger species, and the leaves tend to be greener in color.
