Subgenus: Sansevieria
Etymology: From Burma, now Myanmar.
Distribution: Myanmar and northwestern Thailand.
Brief Description: This acaulescent species has a few leaves when small but 8 – 18 rosulate leaves when mature. The leaves are generally linear-lanceolate with a slightly concave upper face and 45-76 cm long by 1-3.2 cm wide. They are a medium- to dark-green with numerous blotches and mottling. The inflorescence is 60-76 cm tall and simple with 2 – 5 flowers per cluster.
Similar Species: This species bears similarities with other species of the Indian subcontinent, including Sansevieria roxburghiana, S. ebracteata, and S. zeylanica. Its flexible, wider leaves, that also tend to be darker, separate this species. In the East Africa Herbarium, numerous collections of this species are confused with Sansevieria trifasciata ssp. sikawae.
