From the Iringa District of Tanzania, this is one of the most desirable of the columnar Monadeniums. The stem resembles M. elegans in the elaborate tubercles, but the leaves are much larger. The flowers are borne on extremely long, red peduncles, and the cyathia shields are bright red, making this species a highlight of a greenhouse in early spring. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
