Commiphora africana is a small pachycaul tree from the tropical areas of East Africa, extending southwards to Mozambique. This form is less tree-like and more shrub like. Characterized by numerous spreading stiff spiny branches and peeling, papery, reddish bark, its leaves are trifoliate. Our plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
