Named for its association with salt flats, Lithops salicola comes from west-central South Africa in the vicinity of the Orange River. Although it grows in fine-grained saline soils, it has a reputation for being one of the least rot-prone of the Lithops and may make a good starter species for this group. The malachite form is green with many spots and markings. The flowers are white. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
