Of unknown origin, probably from South Africa and possibly a hybrid or a selection, this species is popular in cultivation either as a container plant or as a ground cover. It is a slow-growing species with knobby stems and deltoid-shaped leaves that can be folded. The flowers are light yellow and numerous. This is one of those species that can be raised to expose knobby, contorted roots, and the plants can even be grown in bonsai. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
