From northern Mexico states of Sonora and Baja California, this plant is a small tree up to 12-feet tall. These plants are from material collected near Ajo, Arizona. With time, the stem becomes a whitish yellow and multistemmed with large ovate leaves. Although this plant is from the winter-rainfall regions, it seems to put up with summer rainfall in Tucson, but it is touchy in that season. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
