This plant spans part of the Amazon basin between Brazil and Peru. This species eventually produces a short column with a yellow-green epidermis and few spines, although those present tend to be fairly stout. The flowers are relatively narrow and orange-red, and we think it is quite showy. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
