This complex group of plants is from the Chihuahuan Desert of Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where it grows at high elevations. This species is solitary with a globose body bearing numerous ribs and tubercles, and the spination near the tip is arranged to vaguely look like a bird’s nest. The flower color ranges from white to pink with yellow centers. These plants likely are very frost hardy. We have seedlings in 4-inch pots.
