This complex group of plants is from the Chihuahuan Desert of Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where it grows at high elevations. This species is solitary with a globose body bearing numerous ribs and tubercles, and the spination is highly variable. Likewise, the flower color is variable is well, ranging from nearly white to pink. These plants likely are very frost hardy. We have them in 4-inch pots.
