The form armstrongii is no longer recognized by Bayer (1999) and is subsumed under H. glauca var. herrei. This means that while it is from the Eastern Cape Province, the cylindrical "pine cone" of tightly packed glaucous leaves stands taller than the typical form. These plants are like H. glauca var. herrei on steroids. These plants are rooted cuttings in 5-inch pots.
